SPECIFICATIONS: Hörmann steel door for shipping containers

The steel entry door we offer for shipping containers comes in a standard size of 39.4 x 78.7 in – clear opening width of 38.5 in. Alternatively, a version with a price surcharge is available in 43.3 x 78.7 in – clear opening width of 42.5 in. The doors are set into a steel frame, which is always custom-built based on the location and type of container! Can swing left or right.

The doors come in color RAL 9002. If a customer requires the doors in a different RAL shade, we’ll repaint them for a surcharge of about $114 (before VAT).

This isn’t a baked-on finish, just a topcoat in a color similar to the container. The color is applied only to the outside of the container — the standard interior color is always RAL 9002.

Which type of Hörmann door for your container?

Doors for shipping containers come in these 4 types:

doors on the side of the container, for standard container height

doors on the side of the container, for High Cube container height

doors on the rear of the container, for standard container height

doors on the rear of the container, for High Cube container height

Buying and installing Hörmann doors

This offer applies only to containers purchased from us! The price covers only the door and installation. The container is not included in the price!

We don’t install doors on containers that weren’t purchased from us, and we don’t do installation work at customer sites outside our facility. Discounted or free-shipping offers don’t apply to conversions of this kind. Shipping is always billed based on actual cost by destination. Hörmann fire-rated doors are set into a steel frame, so the structural strength of the container where the steel panels are located isn’t weakened.

A container modified this way can only be used for storage and can’t be used for ocean shipping. A container with additional doors makes an excellent short- or long-term office, a night-watchman’s site cabin in the area, or storage space with an office.

Option to buy doors without installation

We can also ship the door, including the frame, separately for self-installation. In that case, the price will be reduced by about $68 (before VAT), plus shipping costs will be charged based on destination. For an exact quote, please send us the delivery address, including ZIP/postal code.

Before shipping the goods, you’ll need to provide us the exact measurement of the container floor to the bottom profile of the container’s upper section (door cutout) — see photo with question mark. As well as the swing direction viewed from outside — left/right.

HC size: 103.5 x 44.5 x 3.9 in

Frame weight 91.5 lbs + door 105.8 lbs = 197.3 lbs

Standard: 91.7 x 44.5 x 3.9 in

Frame weight 77.2 lbs + door 105.8 lbs = 183 lbs

We typically install these doors on our own containers. If you order the door separately for self-installation and there are clear signs it’s been used, including installed, please note the door cannot be returned in that condition.
